FAQs About 5 Days Nyiragongo Hike & Mountain Gorilla Trek
This specific tour focuses on trekking Mountain Gorillas in Virunga National Park. Eastern Lowland Gorillas are found in a different region of DR Congo, primarily Kahuzi-Biega National Park.
The accommodation at the Nyiragongo summit consists of basic, simple tents provided by Virunga National Park, designed for a unique, adventurous overnight experience focused on the volcano, rather than luxury.
The Nyiragongo hike is considered strenuous. It involves a 5-hour uphill climb over rugged and sometimes steep terrain. A good level of physical fitness and preparation is highly recommended.
The boat cruise on Lake Kivu on Day 1 is an optional activity. If your flight arrives late, there may not be sufficient time to include it. Please discuss your arrival schedule with us for personalized arrangements.
