10-Day Rwenzori Mountain Hiking Safari

10 Days 9 Nights

Trek deep into the Rwenzori Mountains of western Uganda on a 10-day guided ascent to Margherita Peak, Africa’s third-highest summit.

Overview

This is no gentle walk through the woods. It’s a demanding, glacier-bound expedition through one of Africa’s most unique mountain environments—a place where equatorial rainforest gives way to giant heathers, boggy moorlands, and jagged alpine ice.

The Rwenzoris aren’t just high; they’re mythic. Revered in local folklore and often obscured by cloud, these “Mountains of the Moon” are unlike any other trekking destination on the continent.

Over 10 days, you’ll ascend to 5,109 meters above sea level, navigating one of the world’s rare equatorial ice caps. The trail leads past enormous lobelias, shifting glaciers, and mist-soaked valleys until you stand on the rim of Margherita Peak.

This is high-altitude hiking at its rawest: no crowds, no luxury cushions—just commitment, endurance, and the reward of having earned every view.

  • Traverse equatorial jungle, montane forest, and afro-alpine zones on foot
  • Summit Margherita Peak (5,109m), Africa’s third-highest mountain
